Whether you’re clinical or non-clinical, we all face the emotional challenges that come with working in healthcare. That’s where Schwartz Rounds come in.
 
Open to all colleagues across our Trust, Schwartz Rounds offer a unique, confidential space to reflect on the personal impact of your work, share experiences, and listen to others. No clinical details, no problem-solving – just honest, human stories and the chance to connect. One hour, once a month – each Round begins with a few colleagues sharing their stories on a chosen theme (e.g. “a patient I’ll never forget” or “when things go wrong”), followed by open discussion and reflections, supported by trained facilitators. No booking required – just join online on time please. Evidence shows Schwartz Rounds can help reduce stress and isolation, improve communication, foster empathy and build a more compassionate, resilient workforce.

It helps start supportive conversations with your manager about your situation and any reasonable adjustments you may need. Looking after our own mental health and well-being is so important to ensure that we are resilient and we are able to care for our patients and colleagues. Its been a tough few years and we know that staff need support, we also understand that working in the care industry can have an impact on your mental health without the external circumstances that we have worked through. Formerly known as Remploy The Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, delivered by Maximus, provides confidential, free mental health support in the workplace for anyone struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, low mood, or other mental health challenges.

This service is available to anyone who is:

  • In permanent or temporary employment (including those currently signed off sick)

  • Experiencing a mental health concern that is impacting their work

What the service offers:

  • Up to nine months of dedicated, personalised support

  • Practical strategies to help manage mental health at work

  • Advice on workplace adjustments to make work more sustainable

  • Guidance on developing coping strategies and building resilience

  • Support with creating a return-to-work plan if you’re off sick

Switching Off Workshops - A three-part workshop to help you manage the emotional impact of work and improve your ability to switch off. Rugby League Cares - Delivered in partnership with Rugby League Cares, these sessions use the power of sport and lived experience to promote mental fitness, emotional wellbeing, and team resilience. Trauma can happen when we experience or witness something deeply distressing or overwhelming. Everyone’s response is different, and the impact can show up in our thoughts, emotions, or even physically sometimes straight away, or sometimes much later. If you or a colleague are feeling the effects of trauma, we have toolkits and resources available to help. These offer practical guidance, coping strategies, and reassurance.
