Professor Terry Jones, Director of Research & Innovation at the University Hospitals Liverpool Group (UHLG), has been awarded the Lifetime Trainer Award by ENT UK, the national society for Head and Neck Surgery. The award was presented at the national research showcase meeting on Friday 5 September 2025 in recognition of his career.
Professor Jones also leads the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre (LHNC), based at Aintree University Hospital. LHNC brings together clinical and research expertise to improve care for patients with head and neck cancer. The centre is a collaboration between Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, part of UHLG, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Liverpool.
Professor Jones said: “I am genuinely touched and honoured by this prestigious award, which I am delighted to accept on behalf of Liverpool Head and Neck Centre.
“Surgical education has been integral to my clinical academic role. Very few things are more important than developing and supporting doctors in training, which is why we have developed hands-on courses and other educational resources to train the surgeons of the future.”
The award highlights Professor Jones’ dedication and LHNC’s role in advancing head and neck care, research and training.
