Using population health data, NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group) has developed a strategy that sets out how services and the way they are delivered can be shaped to meet the needs of people today.
The strategy aligns with the national NHS 10-Year Health Plan, supporting shifts from hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention. It rethinks how and where care should be delivered, to improve the health and quality of lives of the communities in Liverpool and the wider city region.
UHL Group, which runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital, Liverpool Women’s University Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, is carrying out public engagement to understand what people’s priorities are for the next five years.
James Sumner, Chief Executive of UHL Group, said: “There are stark health inequalities in our region, where people can expect a shorter life and fewer years of life spent in good health than elsewhere in the country. And the situation is expected to get worse over the coming decades.
“We need to think differently about the way we work and take a totally different approach if we want to shift the dial and make things better for our population. This is your opportunity to take a look at our proposed plan for the next five years. It outlines the challenge and what we need to do, but we need your support in starting to think about how we do it.”
