Haematology

What is this clinic for?

The appointments in this clinic are for ladies with any haematological diagnosis, past or present, which requires input from the haematology team during the antenatal or postpartum period.

You may also be cared for in this clinic if you have a blood clot that has been provoked by the contraceptive pill or HRT.

How is the clinic run?

The clinic takes place on a Tuesday afternoon. It is run by a clinical nurse specialist and is a telephone clinic unless there is a clinical need for you to attend in person.

What is expected of the patient?

If your appointment requires you to have monitoring of your haematological condition or medication please make sure that your bloods have been taken prior to the appointment.

If you fail to attend your appointment or have the monitoring requirements taken on two consecutive occasions due to trust policy you will be discharged back to your GP. If for any reason you cannot attend or have the monitoring bloods taken please let me know and we can reschedule your appointment.

Feedback

Your feedback is important to us and helps us influence care in the future.

Following your discharge from hospital or attendance at your outpatient appointment you will receive a text asking if you would recommend our service to others. Please take the time to text back, you will not be charged for the text and can opt out at any point. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
