This Menopause clinic at Liverpool Women's University Hospital provides a holistic approach to menopause related care.

Patients may include:

  • Women who have undergone early menopause, either naturally, or following surgery/chemotherapy/radiotherapy
  • Women experiencing troublesome menopause related symptoms
  • Transgender male to females requiring hormone supplementation.

What will happen at your appointment

During your visit to the clinic your symptoms and concerns will be assessed, and a range of appropriate treatment options will be discussed with you.

If required, information and advice regarding fertility, contraception, periods, bladder problems, bone and heart health will be available.

For a face-to face appointment, you will usually see one of our nursing team initially for a height, weight and blood pressure measurement. If there is any reason you wish to decline these observations, please inform the nurse when you are called.

To access this service, please contact your GP to arrange a referral.

What to prepare for your appointment

  • Past medical history, please have details ready of your previous medical history
  • Family history, please let us know of any relevant conditions in your family or if anything has changed in your family history since your last appointment
  • Questions, in order to get the most out of your appointment please prepare beforehand any questions you may like answering during your appointment
  • Please have a list of any medications you are currently taking ready for your appointment
  • Please have your blood test results ready if you have had one before your appointment, this can sometimes be on your NHS app results.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to support you to attend your appointment please call the Patient Access Centre on 0151 702 4328. You can call Monday to Friday, 8:00am in the morning to 6:00pm in the evening.

Clinics are held throughout the week and may be in person, usually held in the Gynaecology outpatients, Ground Floor at Liverpool Women’s Crown Street site or virtually via telephone.

From time to time, clinics may be held in other community locations. This information will be clear on your appointment letter/notification. Please review your appointment letter carefully.

Please note: appointment times are approximate. Please be available for your consultation if via telephone, throughout the morning or afternoon session.

Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 10 minutes late for your face-to-face appointment, it is likely we will need to rearrange your appointment due to high demand for clinic space.

Menopause Group Education Event (Monday 20 October 2025)

Led by a Liverpool Women’s consultant specialist and a GP with a special interest in Menopause, this online group education session offers an overview of common menopause symptoms, what to expect from your first appointment, self-management guidance and a facilitated Q&A session, organised by Cheshire and Merseyside Provider Collaborative.
