More than 270 people from across Liverpool received vital health checks from colleagues at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group) as part of World Kidney Day celebrations.
Testing was offered at Aintree University Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital and in the community, with volunteers also offering checks to commuters at Liverpool Central Station over a three-day period.
This year marks the 16th consecutive year that volunteers across UHL Group and partner organisations have spared their time to help tackle kidney diseases through early detection, prevention and education.

Dr Bhavna Pandya, Consultant Nephrologist and Physician, who has led the World Kidney Day events since they began, said the impact continues to grow year on year.
She said: “Each year we see just how important and impactful these events are, which is a real testament to the dedication and commitment of my team.
“Once again, we identified a number of previously undiagnosed health risks, underlining the importance of making health checks more accessible within our communities.
“Working with local universities, patient groups, charities and governors it is my hope that that we can continue to help even more people across our city to live healthier, happier lives.”
Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mrs Julie Lawson, joined David Flory, Chair of UHL Group, to thank colleagues for their continued hard work and commitment.
David Flory added: “People in our city face some of the greatest health inequalities in the country.
“Events like these make a real difference to people’s lives. Bhavna and her team should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.”
