Colleagues from NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group) Diabetes service welcomed more than 100 healthcare professionals from across Cheshire and Merseyside to share best practice and support improvements in diabetes care across the region.

UHL Group’s Diabetes service, which operates from Aintree University Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, is one of the busiest in the region.

The theme of this year’s conference was emotional health and wellbeing. People with lived experience of diabetes were invited to share their challenges and successes of managing the condition.

Anne Cartwright, Nurse Consultant for Diabetes, said: “This conference gives hospital and community-based healthcare professionals a valuable opportunity to step away from day-to-day pressures and take time to reflect, listen and learn.

“Hearing directly from people who live with diabetes is invaluable. By placing people with diabetes at the heart of these conversations, we can deliver meaningful, lasting changes that support individuals to live well.

“Our collaboration with partners from across the region does not end with this event. It will continue as we work together to develop innovative solutions and improve outcomes for our patients.”
