The General and Colorectal Surgery team at University Hospital Liverpool Group (UHLG) is actively involved in cutting-edge research to improve patient outcomes and advance surgical care. Our research focuses on areas such as colorectal cancer, emergency surgery, surgical recovery, and improving responses to patient deterioration.

This trial tests infliximab, an anti-inflammatory drug given early to reduce damage, aiming to improve outcomes, shorten hospital stays and find links between genes and treatment response.

This trial tests whether a short course of low-dose cyclophosphamide, a well-tolerated drug that boosts the immune system’s T cell response to cancer, can reduce relapse risk and improve survival.

This study is part of a larger research programme to improve how hospitals respond when patients get worse after emergency abdominal surgery.
