Yvonne Stanley is an Assistant Domestic Services Manager, who’s amazing contributions to patient care we want to celebrate, as we approach National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day.

Yvonne has worked at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital for 25 years, starting part-time as a domestic, and now helps to manage more than 300 domestic colleagues across our city centre hospital.

Yvonne said: “I feel very blessed to love every single minute of my job and I am very proud of the journey I’ve made.

“As part of the Domestics management team there is more to my role than sorting staff rotas. I feel it is my duty to support colleagues develop and maintain high standards.

“Being a domestic goes way beyond simply cleaning, it is also about how you interact with patients on the ward and corridors. It is one thing providing a clean environment, but we also need to give our patients an environment that they feel comfortable in.

“Our team is always looking to improve the service we offer. We have recently introduced new machinery for floor cleaning which is extremely efficient and allows our domestics more time to focus on other tasks.

“Working for the NHS is an honour and helping care for your own is a feeling unmatched.”
