The NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) are essential tools in supporting the NHS to be an inclusive and fair workplace. They help to evaluate progress and identify areas where further improvement is needed.

The Workforce Race Equality Standard was introduced in 2015 and the Workforce Disability Equality Standard was introduced in 2019. Implementing them is a requirement of NHS Providers through the NHS Standard Contract.
