If you require an operation you will be asked to attend a nurse-led pre-operative clinic where you will be asked questions around your medical history, detailing previous illnesses or health issues.
It is also a chance for you or your family to ask any questions you might have regarding your surgery and subsequent care. The nurses will also arrange blood tests or any other investigations necessary before your operation.
It would be helpful if you could bring with you a list of all medicines that you are currently taking. If you have any additional problems, the staff may seek advice from an anaesthetist or physician before your operation.
Some simple tests such as blood pressure and ECG will be taken on arrival before you see the nurse.
