The Non-English Speaking Team (NEST) is a community midwifery team that provides care for women and families booked at the Liverpool Women’s University Hospital who do not speak English, and require translation services.
NEST midwives are committed to providing you with the care and support you need, making sure you have all the information required in your own language, when possible, for you to make the right choices for you and your baby. You will be assigned a named midwife who will be responsible for planning and providing most of your care, and you will have the opportunity to meet other midwives in the team.
We work closely with various charities and support agencies across Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley and are able to make a referral if required dependent on need.
Once you have had your baby your midwife will visit you at home for up to 28 days. You will then be discharged to the care of your health visitor and GP.
Antenatal care
Antenatal Care will be performed by a named midwife in the hospital setting or at the family home using translation services with midwifery support and consultant input if required.
Postnatal care
Postnatal care will take place in the family home. Support, signposting and appropriate referrals will be completed as required to the various partnering agencies
If you are pregnant and require a translator, please contact LWH on 0151 247 4747 or go online to complete the referral form for booking and complete ‘My Pregnancy Notes’ registration.
If you are unable to access My Pregnancy Notes, please attend your GP surgery and the receptionist can refer you to Liverpool Women's University Hospital via a designated email address.
