Our Radiology teams provide diagnostic services to over 1.5 million patients within Merseyside and the surrounding region. 

The diagnostic imaging services include Ultrasound, CT, MRI, functional imaging with cutting edge Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) CT technology, Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy, DEXA bone scans and X-ray

We facilitate support to clinicians in inpatient, outpatient, general practice, emergency and community settings and deliver more than 560,000 examinations each year. 

Radiology is an ISO 9001:2015 certified service, holding the UKAS accredited certification for over 20 years. 

Interventional Radiology 

Our Interventional Radiology team provides out of hours emergency services to several neighbouring NHS trusts and have been awarded exemplar status from the British Institute of Interventional Radiology. 

Imaging 

Our imaging department supports regional specialised oncology Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings in Head and Neck, Primary Liver Neoplasms, Advanced Colorectal Cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Sarcoma, Haematology, Upper GI and Neuro Endocrine Tumours.

It’s natural that you may feel nervous before your scan appointment. A lot of people can feel anxious about having a scan and this is normal.

You may feel worried about what the results will be, or do not like the experience of having a scan.

These feelings might stop you from going to your appointment.

There are a number of things you can do to support your anxiety before going for your scan, including breathing techniques or asking for additional support.
