The Bedford Clinic is a dedicated NHS outpatient and day care service located within the Liverpool Women’s University Hospital, providing a confidential and accessible service including consultations for women seeking a termination of pregnancy.
We pride ourselves on supporting choice and providing a non-judgemental, non-directional approach in assisting women with their decision regarding their pregnancy. The clinic also provides a contraceptive advice, advice on sexual health and on healthy lifestyle choices.
The Bedford Centre is currently running a primarily telephone-based service. If a scan or a face-to-face appointment is required, this will be advised in your telephone consultation.
The primary option offered for termination of pregnancy will be outpatient medical management. What this means for you will be discussed in your telephone consultation.
We understand that it can be a difficult and daunting time when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. You may be unsure of where to turn and feel alone. Here at The Bedford Centre, we are here to provide safety and support, giving you the options to make the choice that’s right for you.
More information
You can refer yourself to us via the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) action line on: 03457 30 40 30, and asking for your treatment to be at the Bedford Centre or Liverpool Women’s University Hospital.
We know how important it is to choose a care specialist when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. There is no need to be referred in via your GP or any other health provider.
The clinic is open for consultations Monday to Friday. 8.30am-4.30pm and is located on the second Floor of the hospital.
Most consultations at present are conducted by a telephone call. In some circumstances you will be required to attend in person. Currently you need to do this without an accompanying person.
Unfortunately we are unable to take referrals aside from via BPAS as above, however we are able to provide information and an informal discussion via telephone prior to BPAS referral. We want to make it as easy as possible to make the right decision for you, so we are here to answer any questions you may have.
At The Bedford Centre, we work hard to make sure you are given privacy and security when you are in our care. The facility is situated in a discreet part of the hospital with its own entrance for your peace of mind and safety and we are proud to have the very best team who are here to support your journey with us.
The clinic comprises an outpatient area with a reception and consultation, counselling, and ultrasound scanning rooms. There are also patient waiting rooms in the outpatient area.
The day care outpatient facilities comprise single, en-suite rooms.
Both the outpatient and outpatient areas are situated together, making a safe, confidential environment for patients seeking a termination.
We are fortunate to be part of Europe’s biggest specialist Gynaecology and Obstetric Hospital which gives access to the best facilities and specialists.
